Blackhawk · San Ramon

For Blackhawk families tired of being told they need work they don’t

Being able to afford the treatment plan is not the same as needing it. We are a practice built around telling you which is which.

Who this is for

  • You live in Blackhawk and want a practice you will keep for decades
  • You have been handed treatment plans that felt like sales presentations
  • You want cosmetic work done conservatively rather than comprehensively
  • You would like your children comfortable at the dentist from the start

Why affluence changes the conversation, and shouldn't

We will say this plainly, because our Blackhawk patients tend to appreciate it: a practice that knows you can afford the expensive plan is under a particular temptation to recommend it.

Our default is the opposite. If a filling will hold for another two years, we say so and write it down. If bonding will get you the result you want, we do bonding rather than veneers. If something can be watched rather than treated, we watch it — and we still expect to be your practice in twenty years, which is precisely why that is the sensible commercial choice as well as the honest one.

You will not be handed a five-figure plan at a first visit. You will be shown your own x-rays and photographs and told what we are actually looking at.

Cosmetic work, done conservatively

A great many people who arrive asking about veneers do not need them. Whitening alone resolves a surprising proportion of what brings people to a cosmetic consultation. A single afternoon of bonding fixes a chip that has bothered someone for a decade.

So we start there. Enamel does not grow back, and once a tooth is prepared for a veneer it needs a veneer or a crown for life. That is a decision worth being certain about, and we would rather you were certain than quick.

Where veneers genuinely are the answer, we do them properly — shade-matched in natural light, with provisionals you live with for a fortnight before anything is permanent.

Getting here from Blackhawk

We are at 2491 San Ramon Valley Blvd in San Ramon, a straightforward drive from Blackhawk with free parking directly outside the door and ground-floor, step-free access.

Families coming in from Blackhawk usually book back-to-back so one trip covers everyone. Say how many of you there are when you call and we will build the morning around it.

What to expect

Here’s how the visit actually goes.

No surprises. That’s the whole idea.

  1. 01

    A conversation first

We ask what has brought you in and what has gone badly before, sitting up rather than reclined.

  2. 02

    Your own images

Photographs and x-rays on the screen beside you. We point at the actual tooth.

  3. 03

What we would do, and what we would leave

Both, explicitly. The second list is usually longer than people expect.

  4. 04

    A written plan

Sequenced and priced, to take away. No decision on the day.

Questions

Answered before you ask.

Are you in-network with my plan?

We’re a Delta Dental Premier provider and a PPO provider with every other carrier we accept. Call with your card and we will verify your actual coverage — your remaining maximum, your deductible, the percentages — before your first visit.

Do you do full smile makeovers?

Yes, planned properly and in the right sequence. But most of our cosmetic work is two to six teeth, and we will tell you honestly when that is all you need.

How long have you been in the valley?

Dr. Broschinsky has practiced since 1989 and opened the San Ramon practice after eight years in downtown San Francisco. Some of our patients have been coming since childhood and now bring their own children.

Can you see our whole family?

Yes — toddlers through grandparents, and often on the same morning. Ask when you book.
