Everything people ask about the plan.
Is this dental insurance?
No, and that distinction matters. Insurance is a third party who decides what they’ll pay toward your care. This is an agreement directly between you and us: you pay a monthly fee, your preventive care is covered, and everything else is discounted. There’s no company in the middle deciding anything.
What if I already have insurance?
Then you almost certainly don’t need this, and we’ll tell you so. The plan can’t be combined with dental insurance. It exists for people who are self-employed, retired, between jobs, or whose employer plan simply isn’t worth what it costs them.
When can I start using it?
Immediately. There’s no waiting period, which is one of the main practical differences from insurance — you can join today and have your cleaning tomorrow.
Is there an annual maximum?
No. Insurance plans typically cap out somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000 a year, which is why treatment so often gets postponed to January. Your 15% member discount applies no matter how much treatment you have in a year.
Does the discount cover everything?
It covers most treatment. A few things are excluded — largely items where our own lab or materials cost leaves no room. We’ll always tell you what your member price is before you agree to anything.
Can I put my whole family on it?
Yes. Each person has their own plan — adults on the Healthy Smile plan, children under 14 on Kids Club. Ask us and we’ll work out the monthly figure for your household.
What happens after twelve months?
It renews automatically so your preventive care doesn’t lapse. You can cancel any time; we’re not going to make that difficult.
Is it actually cheaper?
For most people who use their two cleanings and exams, yes — see the worked example below. If you genuinely only come once a year, it may not be, and we’d rather say that than sign you up.
