Who this is for

  • You’ve just moved to the Tri-Valley and need somewhere for the whole family
  • Your last dentist felt rushed, or recommended more than felt right
  • It’s been a few years and you’d rather not be lectured about it
  • You want one office that can handle everything from a cleaning to a crown

What general dentistry actually covers

General dentistry is the everyday work: the cleanings, the exams, the fillings, the crown when a tooth finally gives out. It’s also the part where someone looks at the whole picture and tells you honestly what’s holding up fine and what isn’t.

Because we’ve been in San Ramon for decades, a lot of what we do is watching. We have x-rays from years back on many of our patients, so we can tell the difference between a spot that has looked exactly like that since 2014 and one that’s genuinely changing. That’s the difference between treating something and treating you.

On being told you need work

Almost every patient who switches to us mentions the same thing: somewhere along the way they were handed a long treatment plan and a payment estimate in the same breath, and they left unsure whether any of it was real.

So here’s how we handle it. You see your own x-rays and intraoral photos on the screen. We point at the actual tooth. We tell you what happens if you treat it now, and what happens if you wait — because sometimes waiting is genuinely the right answer, and we’d rather say so and keep you for twenty years.

If you’d like a second opinion on a plan from another office, bring it in. We’ll look at it with you honestly, including when we think they were right.

Appointments that respect your calendar

We schedule so that your appointment starts when it’s supposed to. If we’re running behind — occasionally we are, because someone needed more time and we gave it to them — you’ll get a call before you leave the house, not an apology in the waiting room.

Families can often be seen back-to-back so one trip covers everyone. Ask when you book; we’ll build it that way.

What to expect

Here’s how the visit actually goes.

No surprises. That’s the whole idea.

  1. 01

    Before you arrive

Paperwork goes out by text or email so you’re not filling in forms on a clipboard. Tell us about your insurance and we’ll check your benefits before you come in.

  2. 02

    Arriving

You’ll be greeted by name. If you’re early, there’s tea and water, and somewhere comfortable to sit that doesn’t feel like a waiting room.

  3. 03

    The exam

Photos, x-rays if they’re due, and a look at your gums, bite, and the soft tissue. We check for oral cancer every time — it takes ninety seconds and it matters.

  4. 04

    The conversation

We put your images on the screen and walk through them with you. You’ll leave knowing what’s fine, what we’re watching, and what genuinely needs attention.

  5. 05

    Afterwards

A written summary of anything we discussed, with costs. No decisions required in the chair.

Questions

Answered before you ask.

Do you take my insurance?

We’re a Delta Dental Premier provider and take Delta’s PPO plans too. With the 21 other carriers we accept — Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, Blue Shield and United Health Care among them — we’re a PPO provider. Call us with your card and we’ll verify your actual benefits — not just whether we take the card — before your first visit.

It’s been years since I’ve seen a dentist. Will I get a lecture?

No. We genuinely don’t care why it’s been a while, and we’ve heard every version of it. We’ll figure out where things stand and make a plan you can actually work through, in whatever order makes sense for your budget.

How soon can I get in as a new patient?

Usually within a week or two for a routine first visit. If you’re in pain, call us — we keep room in the schedule for that.

Do you see children?

Yes, from their first visit onward. Many of our families book the whole household on the same morning.
